Chris Pennell  -  Fencepost Frames

Chris Pennell draws his material and inspiration from the windswept hills of Banks Peninsula and the Canterbury Foothills.

The wind sculpted and sun bleached forms of the stumps and posts contrast with the rich grain and tones of the Totara, Matai and Beech forests that covered the Canterbury hills.

The pieces are often complimented with paua, lichen or old bolts and wire.

Although the grand old trees are now gone, they and the pastoral landscape that followed them live on in Chris’ clocks and frames.
